I have been working on my family’s genealogy for over 35 years. Many of
my ancestors were Irish immigrants in New Haven, CT in the mid to late 1800’s. Most of my Stanford and Carroll ancestors lived in “The Hill” area of New Haven. They came to New Haven in the 1850’s and 60’s. The Stanfords and Carrolls were all from the Mohill, Co. Leitrim area of Ireland. My Bannon family started to arrive a bit earlier than that. They were from Co. Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. I have another Carroll line that came to New Haven via Australia in the 1880’s. I haven’t been able to figure out what country they came from yet.
I have also been collecting postcards and old pictures of various sites in New Haven which relate to these Irish immigrants. You will find many of them on the pages of this site.
This page is my attempt at organizing them in a meaningful way.
On a personal note, I was born in New Haven and grew up in Newington, CT. I now live in Charlotte, NC. I continue to work on my genealogy. You can find my genealogy research site here: My Genealogy Research
I would like to continue to add new information and resources to this site. If you have anything that you would like to contribute, please feel free to contact me!
